Behaviour Policy

Our school aims to help young people to become confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens.

School reinforces messages of respect for others and for other cultures.

You learn well in an environment that offers well-judged praise and recognition of achievement, looks and focuses on you strengths, takes you seriously and shows a genuine interest in you.

Our school aims are:

  • to create an effective learning environment: free from distraction and disturbance
  • to promote self-respect and respect for others
  • to make sure that we are all safe
  • to respect our own and other people’s property

How can we achieve these?

  • do your best
  • be positive… “I can do …….”
  • respect others….. don’t name-call or hit out

As you are growing up, you will hear people talking about how you should behave more responsibly. In this school we have several ways to promote this positive behaviour: through merits and demerits.

School rules

  • be quiet and listen when someone is talking
  • do as you are asked, first time
  • speak in a quiet voice (unless otherwise asked)
  • don’t disturb others, especially when they’re working
  • if you’re in class and you want to ask something or answer a question, put your hand up
  • respect your school, books and equipment

We should all feel happy, safe, respected and included in school and all of us should be proactive in promoting positive behaviour throughout school.

This is central to effective learning and preparation for independent living.

You can speak to your parents, friends and any school staff about this.

Your teachers can intervene to support promoting positive behaviour when someone is not behaving well.
